EXTRA! EXTRA!
Comics are the draw, but what's a campaign without a few cool extras?
It’s hard to believe that we’re almost into a new school year - it’s been a while since I’ve marked time this way, but with a kid starting kindergarten (!) I think this will become the new normal for me once again.
Heroes & Zeros 2 - Campaign Extras
While Kasey keeps working diligently on the next set of pages (we’re up to 32 of 46 done so far), I’m also working on items we can use as add-ons and stretch goals. This has been a challenge in our two previous campaigns, because it’s hard to come up with something people will want. Stickers and prints are great, and there will be some with this campaign as well, but I like to try finding something a little different, too. So I’m going to share a couple items that will be available - none of these are final designs, but they’re close.
First up - one of my personal favorite scenes from Issue 1 was Allison’s interview. Behind the interviewer, Kasey added two “inspirational” posters that may not be quite so inspirational when you look closely:
Those posters just tickle me. So for one of the stretch goals, we’re going to offer versions of both posters, drawn by Sam “Kidlet” Deans! Here’s a taste of our friend the mountain goat:
In addition to that, we noticed that everyone loved the Talisman of Olympus coin from The Olympian, so I wanted to offer something a little heftier than prints on this campaign, too. Luckily my good friend Katie Bush is a master of Chibi art, and we’ll be using her designs to create an enamel pin set featuring Allison, Isaac, Cassandra, and Sherlock. Here’s a preview of the ladies:

Barring any setbacks we’re planning to launch the campaign on October 7, so if you haven’t followed the campaign yet, please click here and sign up for notifications. Having more followers helps us get more promotion from Kickstarter, which ultimately helps the project succeed!
Using Comics to Help Others
We make comics because we’re passionate about our stories, not because we expect to get rich. So if you’re going to support us, we’re going to support others who need it. That’s why last month we made a commitment that, going forward, 20% of all sales from our online store (not including shipping costs) will be donated to charity. Currently, we plan to split any donations between The Hero Initiative and Lambda Legal. The recipients may change depending on where the donations will do the most good - some of you may remember that we donated to hurricane relief last year - but I want to make clear, this is not a promotion. We want to help, and we plan to do this for as long as we’re able to do it.
Sitting tight on The Olympian, but Dee is still busy!
Since we’re focusing on getting Heroes & Zeros #2 out, art for The Olympian #2 is currently paused. Not to worry - the script is done and we’re still planning Issue 2 for early 2026. In the meantime, co-creator Dee Fish is still busy with, among other things, her gig as artist on webcomic Giant Girl Adventures - which is coming to print soon via Kickstarter! If you love Dee’s art as much as I do, you’ll want to follow this campaign and back it when it launches.
